The IC-Organic Connection

Interstitial cystitis (IC) or Painful Bladder Syndrome (PBS), is a chronic inflammatory medical condition of the bladder and surrounding pelvic region. Inside the bladder is a mucous layer that lines and serves to protect the bladder wall. The mucous layer becomes inflamed, bleeds and becomes damaged, allowing irritating substances into the urine, which aggravates and inflames the bladder wall, resulting in pain and other symptoms. The exact number of people with IC is unknown, but current estimates suggest that there may be as many as nine million women in the U.S. who suffer from chronic pelvic pain -with up to 7 million suffering from IC specifically.

It is recognized by medical communities that three factors; behavioral changes, stress management, and dietary changes can reduce and eliminate bladder discomfort. There is no scientific evidence that links the cause of interstitial cystitis to diet; but diet is important because it is the center of our well being. By using the three simple principles to the Whole Body Way, the journey of healing, joy and fulfillment can begin in your life.
